Research. Campaign. Convene.
Everyone has to do their bit to deliver real change in education, from global leaders and governments, to international bodies and multi-lateral institutions, to regional officials, school leaders and classroom teachers.
Action is badly needed. The world doesn’t just need more educators; it needs better teachers. More children are in school than ever before, but many are not being taught the basic skills and core competencies they need to thrive in today’s world – and to prepare for the future.
This teaching crisis looks different in every country and region in the world. But we believe that the fundamental questions facing governments and the international community are the same.
How do you get people to become teachers? How should you train them and continue to develop them? And how do you make teaching a high-status profession?
The Varkey Foundation wants to facilitate a global conversation about what works in education. To do that, we conduct ground-breaking research into some of the biggest questions in education, campaign on our findings and convene expert groups of policy-makers, thought-leaders and change-makers from around the world.
