In a powerful moment at this year’s Harvard Graduate School of Education convocation, Satyam Mishra, a 2021 finalist for the Global Teacher Prize, was presented with the 2025 Phyllis Strimling Award by Dean Dr. Nonie Lesaux. The ceremony, held in front of the graduating class and esteemed faculty members, celebrated Satyam's outstanding contributions to gender inclusion and academic excellence.

The Phyllis Strimling Award, established 25 years ago to honour transformative educators, recognised Satyam not only for his scholarly achievements but also for his advocacy in education reform. In a historic first, he becomes the first male recipient of this distinguished award, adding another milestone to a remarkable journey.

Satyam also celebrated a personal academic triumph, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA and earning an Ed.M. (Master of Education) degree from Harvard. The culmination of this achievement was marked with a celebratory photo beside the iconic John Harvard statue in Harvard Square, proudly holding the award that signifies both recognition and responsibility.

Looking ahead, Satyam has been appointed as the Summer Institute Director for Teach For Uzbekistan, where he will be based in Kashkadarya, a region in southwestern Uzbekistan. In this new role, he will lead initiatives to integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into rural classrooms, working alongside local educators to enhance learning outcomes.

"This will be my first time working in Central Asia, and I am very excited about the opportunity to contribute and learn in this new context."

This latest recognition and new international role highlight a continuing commitment to transforming education and championing inclusion, principles that Satyam has carried from classrooms to convocation stages, and now to the global education arena.

Congratulations, Satyam!
