The Senate of the Argentine Nation paid tribute to two outstanding Argentine educators, Karina Sarro and Lucas Vogel, who were selected among the world’s best teachers for the prestigious Global Teacher Prize. The ceremony, held in the Arturo Illía Hall, was led by Senator Maximiliano Abad, president of the UCR of Buenos Aires, who presented them with the Diploma of Honor.

National senator Sonia Elizabeth Rojas Decut, national deputies Karina Banfi and Daniel Arroyo, provincial legislators, and education sector representatives attended the event.

Recognising the honorees, Senator Maximiliano Abad emphasised the crucial role of dedicated educators in shaping the future. “When teachers are passionate, innovative, and committed to learning, they become the best tool to strengthen education,” he said. He also called for collective efforts to improve the country’s educational standards, noting that “education has always been a catalyst for progress.”

Lucas Vogel, who has spent 17 years teaching in the communities of Oberá and Campo Grande in Misiones, currently instructs students in Mathematics and Mathematical Analysis at the secondary and higher education levels. He is known for implementing innovative teaching methods to make mathematics more applicable to real-life situations.

Karina Sarro, on the other hand, champions the use of technology to solve real-world problems. Teaching at four schools, three of which struggle with limited technological resources, she has helped students participate in international competitions through her dedication and innovative approach.

Both educators expressed gratitude for the recognition. Vogel highlighted the importance of evidence-based education and the role of books in shaping young minds, while Sarro emphasised the need to adapt to an evolving society. “This is just the beginning. I hope to inspire more educators to join in transforming education for everyone,” she said.

Agustín Porres, Regional Director of the Varkey Foundation, also spoke at the event, underscoring the importance of celebrating and supporting teachers. “This award serves as a beacon. Our goal is to reach and motivate teachers who are struggling and remind them that they are not alone,” he stated, reports Infobae.
