Atlantis Group

The Atlantis Group is a body created by the Varkey Foundation of former Education Ministers and Heads of Government from across 6 continents and with a combined period of office, managing public education systems, of over 65 years.

It was formed in March 2017 at a private side meeting at the Global Education and Skills Forum in Dubai, held at the Atlantis Hotel.

The founding principle of the group is “to bring together the skills and experiences of former Ministers of Education and interested former heads of government across the world to help address ongoing challenges in global education” – and in particular, to provide advice and support to political leaders and Ministers from around the globe who wish to design and implement reform in their education system. As former education Ministers and heads of government, Atlantis Group members are in a unique position to provide this support.

The Group will work with governments, school systems and all interested parties to advance the development of an agenda which ensures that all children have the education that they are entitled to as their birth right.

The Varkey Foundation provides the secretariat for the Atlantis Group.
