This year’s Global Education and Skills Forum is just around the corner, and the programme is shaping up to be our best yet. Based around the theme of “How do we create ‘real’ global citizens?”, the Forum is challenging its delegates to consider what we need to teach our children and how best to go about doing it.
The weekend will see a range of world-leading expert speakers take part in hard-hitting debates, give powerful talks and provide insight into their personal secrets to success. GESF 2017 then culminates in the announcement of the internationally renowned $1 million Global Teacher Prize.

Debate chambers
The Global Education and Skills Forum will be hosting a range of thought-provoking debates, with speakers tackling some of the key issues facing education today.
From a discussion on robot teachers to the role of education in the rise of populism, we can expect strong opinions and fierce questioning from speakers on both sides of the House.

Taking inspiration
This year’s event will also see powerful short talks from special guest speakers. EdTalks will inspire and challenge delegates to think about what it takes to create ‘real’ global citizens.
Andreas Schleicher, Director for the Directorate of Education and Skills at the OECD, and Former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard are some of the influential leaders who will be hosting an intimate one hour Meet the Mentor session, and sharing their experiences and thoughts on global citizenship education across the weekend.
It starts in the classroom
How does one create ‘real’ global citizens? At GESF 2017 we are asking some of the world’s best teachers.
An initiative of the Varkey Foundation, the Global Teacher Prize presents the Top Ten finalists who will be leading Teacher Masterclasses. Learn from the very best, as they share their knowledge, innovative approaches and passion for teaching.

Sharing solutions
As well as debates and inspirational talks from influential speakers the Forum will be encouraging participants to come together to build and share scalable solutions.
Briefing sessions will help answer the ‘how?’ question. Not only will we hear great ideas from around the world, participants will discuss turning these ideas into action.
Meanwhile, the Policy Pitch and Dev Ex Den will allow delegates to propose their ideas and policy approaches to a panel of experts.
The Global Education and Skills Forum will take place on 18th and 19th March 2017 in Dubai, UAE, with the theme of “How do we make ‘real’ global citizens?”
