Jonathan is the Director of Policy and Research at the Varkey Foundation, where he leads on the development of the Foundation's work understanding and promoting issues around the status and capacity of teachers across the world.
Previously, Jonathan was Head of Education at the Policy Exchange think tank in London, where he wrote over 15 major reports, book chapters and policy papers across all aspects of education in England. He appeared regularly in print and broadcast and worked closely alongside Ministers, policymakers and civil society organisations on education reform.
Jonathan has also worked at Serco Group, as Head of Open Public Services in the Cabinet Office, and as Head of Education in the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit in the administrations of both Gordon Brown and David Cameron.
Outside of work Jonathan is the Chair of Governors of ARK Greenwich Free School, a Trustee of Astrea Multi Academy Trust, and a Trustee of Ambition School Leadership.
